Two changes on the Account page are protected more heavily than the rest, because both of them can cost you money. Changing the address we pay you at needs a code from your inbox, and deleting your account needs your password.
On Account, edit PayPal Email and press Save Changes. We email a 6-digit code and open Confirm change of PayPal email. Enter the code and press Confirm. The other fields on the card are saved in the same step.
The code is valid for 10 minutes and it is bound to the address you typed when you asked for it. Edit the address after the code was sent and it stops matching, so close the dialog, correct the address, and request a fresh code. We also send an alert to your sign-in address whenever the payout address changes, so an unexpected one is worth reporting immediately.
A run uses the address on your account at the moment it is prepared, in the first days of the month. Changing the address mid-month is safe, but change it before the month turns rather than while a transfer is in flight.
Under Advanced, Delete My Account warns that this permanently deletes your account and all associated data, and cannot be undone. Press Delete Account, type your password in the dialog, then press Delete My Account there to confirm, and you are signed out. Signed up with Google or Apple? The dialog rejects every password you type until you set one you know.
If you still have an unpaid balance, ask us to settle it before you delete anything. Deletion is not a way to close a balance.
Read Why you have not been paid yet if a transfer to the old address failed.
Read Sign in, reset your password, and connect Google or Apple to set a password on a social account.
